Crit Club Tirana

Mara Projects participated in Tirana Art Weekened by inviting artist Cem A. to stage Crit Club Tirana. 

Crit Club is a performance-debate where two teams debate an unrealistic question about art with a sport on the sidelines, staging disagreement as a form of critical play and framing critique as a mental sport. 

The Tirana edition asked "Is the market good for artists?", a question relevant for artists globally, it is made especially urgent for art students in the Western Balkans, who upon graduation face domestic ecosystems with no market infrastructure and must confront real dilemmas about the economic model of their artistic practice.

Crit Club Tirana featured Flaka Haliti, Dr. Stephanie Dieckvoss, Ilija Prokopiev, and Elian Stefa as participants. The discussion was held in English and moderated by Övül Ö. Durmuşoğlu. 

A fencing duel between Filippo Brignoli and Mari Massimo was organised by the Albanian Fencing Federation.
